Beach Safety Guide

Beach conditions can be unpredictable even on days that appear to be sunny and beautiful. During your stay, we recommend texting the word “SAFETY” to 31279 to receive the most up-to-date local surf report or visit https://www.visitsouthwalton.com/beach-safety/ to view current beach flags and what they mean. This will save your family a lot of time, and most importantly – keep everyone safe. Instead of packing everyone up with all of your beach gear to possibly have to turn around, this can equip your party with the foresight to switch plans and still have a fun day doing something else.

Beach safety tips from our local lifeguards:

  • Parents, please stay vigilant of your children in the water. In a matter of seconds children (and even adults) can be overtaken by the surf.
  • During red flag conditions: “knee deep is too deep”.
  • Swim with someone you trust and near lifeguards.
  • Be aware of what rip tides are and how to avoid/handle them.
  • Stay hydrated and re-apply sunscreen.IMG_0122.png
